The slow cooker is the most magical way to survive winter. You generally throw a bunch of stuff into the pot in the morning, your house smells yummy all day, and when you get home at night – Voila! Dinner!

Here are a few recipes we love.

Full disclosure, we really rely on Skinnytaste for a lot of our meals. Her recipes are delicious, healthy, and usually pretty easy to make (which is key!). Here’s an easy and yummy Cream of Zucchini Soup. We don’t have an immersion blender, so we just toss it in our blender and keep it simple. It’s not “skinny,” but we totally recommend throwing on some seasoned croutons to serve.

Then there’s beef stew. So cozy and comforting in winter. Here’s a hearty recipe from Damn Delicious with the classic carrots, potatoes and tender meat.

The best part of the slow cooker? It’s not just for dinner! We love making a batch of creamy oatmeal for breakfast, (our toddler basically lives off oatmeal, so we go through a lot of it in our house). Never done it? The Kitchn has a simple guide to getting the creamiest oatmeal in the easiest way.
