As the weather heats up and we come ever closer to the start of summer, it is difficult to escape the morning humidity. Starting the day with a healthy, delicious and cold breakfast can help to refresh your mornings!

Overnight oats are not only easy to make, but also packed full of nutritious and affordable ingredients!

ˇ

To make:

  • add equal parts oats and milk of choice (a cup of each makes between one and two servings)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup or brown sugar

Leave this mixture covered in the fridge overnight! Mason jars work great, both for their size, easy coverage and aesthetics 😉

In the morning, add nuts, fruit and seeds of choice. One of our favorites is chia seeds, hemp seeds, chopped walnuts, peach, blueberry and raspberry. It is vibrant both in color and in antioxidants!

Cold brew is a perfect pair with the overnight oats, and although it takes a bit of effort to make initially, it keeps for up to a month in the fridge. With smooth and sweeter flavor than iced coffee, it also contains a lower amount of caffeine than in regular coffee. Here’s a great recipe from Jamie Oliver.
