Healthy eating in winter is not alway easy – especially in January. First, we’re coming off all that holiday feasting, and second, it’s cold and snowy and winter weather means cravings for comfort food. So right now, the struggle to eat healthy is really real. Luckily, we’ve got lots of great local spots to grab a healthy meal, and today, we’re sharing a few of our favorite salads.
First, there’s everybody’s favorite Beacon Main Street staple, Homespun Foods. This delicious little spot makes great food and fabulous pastries, but lucky for us, their salads are also amazing. The Goat Gouda Pecan and the Italian Salad are our personal favs, but we really do love them all. This place is our weekly go-to for lunch that tastes great but doesn’t blow the diet.
Another great spot is Fresh in Hopewell Junction. They offer yummy juices and a variety of great salads, including a make-your-own option. We really love the Dunderberg and the Kale Caesar, but their housemade dressings mean that any choice is the right one.
If you haven’t checked out Veggie Go-Go in Wappingers Falls, you should stop in next time you’re stocking up on wine at Viscount. They have salads, but also offer warm bowl options too, which make this spot an especially great option for winter.
And finally, we simply cannot talk about salads without mentioning our very favorite, The Treasure of the Steak Madre from Max’s on Main. Okay, okay, we know this isn’t the lightest salad out there, but sometimes ya just gotta let loose, and their marinated flank steak with greens, veggies, peanuts and miso dressing is the perfect way to do it!
