Okay, you got us. This isn’t a food post. Warmer weather is on the horizon (it has to be, right?) and we’re turning our attention to refreshing cocktails. With a holiday weekend ahead, it feels like the right time to think about our favorite libations. Sure, rosé is good for every occasion, but if you wanna spice things up, nothing beats a well-crafted cocktail. If you’re entertaining, a large ice cube and a little garnish go a long way.

Here are a few of our favorites.

After a wedding on the Amalfi Coast last summer, Aperol Spritzes in giant wine glasses with an orange wedge garnish were a weekly (sometimes nightly) specialty in our home. The gorgeous color make it feel oh-so-celebratory, and you can tone down the alcohol content by tipping in a little extra soda and a little less sparkling wine. We’re bringing these back for Easter, and suggest you do too. They add a little sunshine to every gathering, and we can only hope that mother nature soon follows suit with the real thing. Here’s our amateur Aperol Spritz recipe:

Fill a glass with ice. Add equal parts Aperol and prosecco, leaving room at the top for a splash of soda. Stir, and garnish with an orange, which we also recommend squeezing into the glass. Enjoy!

If you prefer using correct measurements, Kitchen Swagger has a recipe here.

If you’re a bourbon drinker looking for something refreshing, check out the Bourbini from Doc Crow’s Southern Smokehouse and Raw Bar in Louisville, KY, presented by Town and Country.

Then there’s the tried and true margarita, a warm weather staple, that pairs perfectly with a bowl of guacamole. Happy Healthy Mama has a simple and delicious recipe here. (Do not forget to salt your rim!)

Cheers to April showers bringing May flowers.
